I have worked with agricultural producers for over 10 years to improve their businesses through better business performance analysis and objective decision making.

In this time I have learnt that many producers would like to improve their business skills but existing courses are not quite meeting their needs.

Better Business with Bec is designed to provide short, online-based courses across a range of business and financial literacy skills. There are two types of courses

  1. BetterBuck$ courses are designed to give a first introduction to key business and financial concepts and provide students with the basic skills to manage their own money.
  2. AdvanceAgriBiz courses are designed as ‘add-ons’ for people who already have a good understanding of basic business principles but want to improve their skills.

The 'BetterBuck$' course is aimed at first year entrants to the agricultural industry and is designed to help you create and manage a personal budget, set some savings goals and understand core financial concepts.

 

Dollar Making Decisions

The first course in AdvanceAgriBiz – 'Dollar Making Decisions', focusses on making better capital investment decisions.

This course is designed for property owners and managers who want to improve the return they get on property investment decisions.

The course is delivered as a series of audio recordings supported by a workbook which participants can read and listen to at home. During the course there are also a number of online group meetings where participants come together to ask questions and work through the practical exercises. Individual support via phone or online is provided as needed.

The course is supported by MLA’s Profitable Grazing Systems program and subsidies are available for red meat producers.
